Tahmina Ahmed is Professor at the Department of English, University of Dhaka. She served as the Chair from 2012 to 2015. She was the Team Leader of the British Council funded INSPIRE project, Department of English Writing Service (DEWS) from 2013 to 2016. Therein, she contributed to and co-edited two texts: Teaching Essays with Ease and Exploring Academic Writing. Her primary area of interest is drama. She is currently doing her research on migration literature and the literature of indigenous people of Bangladesh. Apart from publishing scholarly articles, she has translated a number of plays from English to Bangla, including Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, published by Bangla Academy in 1996. She also co-edited The Great War and Our Mindscapes (2017).

Zerin Alam has studied in the universities of Calcutta, Dhaka and Warwick and is now Professor at the Department of English, University of Dhaka where she teaches literature and applied linguistics. Dr. Nevin Farida is Professor and the current Chairperson of the Department of English, University of Dhaka. She has an MA in English Literature from Dhaka University and an MEd in TESOL from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. She completed her PhD in Applied Linguistics and ELT from Warwick University, UK. Her areas of interest include Materials Development, Syllabus Design, Teaching Writing, the Interface between Literature and Language Teaching and Shakespeare Studies. She co-authored Making Connections: Responding to Literature (2004), a First-year student book of the Department of English and has co-edited another student book, Writing Essays with Ease (2016). In addition, she is also the co-editor of Tertiary Level Writing in English in Bangladesh: Tools and Approaches (2018), the final outcome of a series of books published under the British Council INSPIRE DEWS (International Network for Strategic Partnership in Research and Education, Department of English Writing Service) project. Currently, she is editing the Special Centennial Issue of the departmental Journal, Spectrum, the Departmental Newsletter English Matters and a Centennial Series book on hundred years of the Department of English, University of Dhaka.

Fayeza Hasanat teaches at the English Department of the University of Central Florida. She had also taught at the English department of the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. A Fulbright Scholar, she completed her MA and PhD from the University of Florida. She is an academic, author, and translator. She has published academic articles and short stories in national and international literary journals and anthologies. Her publication list includes Nawab Faizunnesa’s Rupjalal: Translation and Commentary (Brill Publishers, 2009). A War Heroine I Speak, a translation of Neelima Ibrahim’s Ami Birangana Bolchi (Bangla Academy, 2017). Her short stories have been anthologized both at home and abroad. Her debut short story collection The Bird Catcher and Other stories (2018) was simultaneously published from the US and Bangladesh. Hasanat writes regularly for The Daily Star.

Md Rezaul Haque teaches in the English Department at St. John’s University, New York. He received his PhD from Flinders University, Australia, where he also completed an Endeavour Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in 2016. Reza co-edited The Shadow of the Precursor (2012) and guest edited along with Gillian Dooley a special issue of Gitanjali & Beyond on Tagore’s Ghare Baire (2020). He has published internationally on Indian English fiction, Rabindranath Tagore, Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, Hasan Azizul Huq, and the South Asian Diaspora Writing. Reza is also a poet and Translations Editor for Transnational Literature (Australia-UK). His first book of Bangla poetry Jolo Jane Kolahol came out in 2020.

Maswood Akhter graduated from the Department of English, Dhaka University and finished his doctoral research in the Centre for English Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU, New Delhi) on fictional narratives in English from the Bengali Diaspora. Currently he is Professor at the Department of English, Rajshahi University. A recipient of UGC Award 2011 in the category of best research paper in Arts & Humanities, Dr. Akhter was also a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence during 2018-2019. He has published in various journals including Asiatic and South Asian Review. One of his recent publications includes a book chapter in Postcolonial Urban Outcasts: City Margins in South Asian Literature (Routledge, 2017). He is Co-Editor of Praxis, a peer-reviewed journal published annually by his Department.

Sabiha Huq is Professor of English at Khulna University. She received PhD from University of Oslo, Norway, broadly on cultural translations of Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. She is a member of the current International Ibsen Committee. She teaches several courses including Modern Drama, South Asian Literature, Postcolonial Literature, Translation Studies, Studies in Shakespeare, Performance Studies. Her research interests are Ibsen, women’s writings, and migration studies. Her forthcoming publications are The Mughal Aviary: Pre-Modern Women’s Writings in India and Ibsen in the Decolonised South Asian Theatre (co-edited). She translates and occasionally writes creative pieces.

Sarker Hasan Al Zayed is Associate Professor of English at the Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). He received his PhD from the Department of English of SUNY, University at Albany. He is the translator (along with Raihan Rahman) of Ian Almond’s The Thought of Nirad C Choudhury. His works have appeared in South Asian Review, Six Seasons Review, Crossings and other journals/anthologies.

Ashim Dutta is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Dhaka, which is also his alma mater. He has a PhD in English (funded by an Overseas Research Scholarship) from the University of York, UK. He was also a Fulbright MA scholar at Montclair State University, USA. His scholarly essays have been published in different peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Commonwealth Literature, International Yeats Studies, Gitanjali and Beyond, and Bangladesh Journal of American Studies. His monograph, Mystic Modernity: Tagore and Yeats, is coming out from Routledge in November 2021. His research and teaching interests include Modernist Literature (British and Irish), Romantic Poetry, Literature of the American Renaissance, Postcolonial Literature and Theory, and Bengali Literature.

Farhanaz Rabbani is an Associate Professor at the Department of English, University of Dhaka. After her B.A.(Hons) and M.A. in English Literature from the University of Dhaka, she completed her M.S. in Written Communications from National Louis University, Illinois, USA. As one of the core members of the INSPIRE project, she has co-authored Writing Essays with Ease (2016), a course book for the students of the Department of English, University of Dhaka. She has also co authored a chapter in the Tertiary Level Writing in English in Bangladesh: Tools and Approaches (2019) published under the British Council INSPIRE Dews project. She has published papers on both pedagogy and literary studies in journals like Spectrum, The Arts Faculty Journal, (University of Dhaka), and Asiatic IIUM Journal on English Language and Literature in English. Her research interests include Writing, Cultural Studies, Popular and Folk Culture and their role in the evolution of the cultural identity of Bangladesh.

Shakhaowat Hossain is Senior Lecturer at North South University’s Department of English. His specialization is British literature. He has published in journals like Spectrum and Bangladesh Journal of American Studies. The representation of animals in literatures is his current academic research interest. He prioritizes the study of literatures before all else, believing it shall make humans more compassionate, as well as liberal, the qualities that are more fundamental for the world now. Apart from teaching British literature and writing both journal and newspaper articles, his interests also include folk music and traveling. Hossain has an MA in British Literature & Cultural Studies from the University of Regensburg, Germany.

Md. Nadimul Huq is Senior Lecturer at the Department of English, Government Titumir College affiliated with University of Dhaka. He is a member of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS Education) 33rd batch. He also served as a lecturer in English Literature at Stamford University, Dhaka. After his B.A. (Hons) and M.A.in English Literature from Jagannath University, he completed his M.A. in Education from University of Dhaka. He attended international seminar in India on “Embracing Wordsworth: A Quarter-millennial Commemoration”. He also attended international trainings and conferences in different countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Nepal, Bhutan, and South Korea. Sanjeeda Hossain is Assistant Professor at the Department of English, University of Dhaka. After the completion of BA (Hons) in 2009 and MA in 2010 in English Literature from the University of Dhaka, she joined the Department of English of the University in 2015. In 2018 she completed her second MA in English Literature from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. She has published scholarly articles in her areas of interest, including feminisms, post-war British theater, dark fantasy and disease in fiction. She publishes short fiction in English as well. One of her recent short stories titled “Haji Shaheb and the Bull” is published in Kitaab in 2021.

Abdullah AL Mamun is an Assistant Professor at the Department of English, Jashore University of Science and Technology.
